Facials should reveal soft, smooth and supple skin. After all, you pay for this purpose! You invest in a facial and when you experience a treatment, you all assume that you will look younger, with healthier and cleaner skin.
No one ventures into a facial in the hope that it will be worse than when they started. Unfortunately, breakouts after undergoing facial treatments are common. Don’t worry, this is completely normal and part of the process, although annoying. Peeling off your surface layer of skin doesn’t necessarily expose the perfect skin underneath.
Redness
If you have just completed a deep pore cleansing facial, your skin has been thoroughly ‘extracted’. That means clogged pores, blackheads and rough textures have been removed for smoother skin. Since the beautician will squeeze your skin, it’s natural to experience redness (especially if your blackheads are large, and your pores are really clogged). Expect a pinky tinge for about 24–48 hours after the facial.
Breakouts
It’s a hard fact to face, that after the ‘cleanse’ comes freckles. This is normal , that’s the promise when your beautician extracts your skin, sometimes the oil stays beneath the surface. As your pores continue to ‘cleanse themselves’ post-facial, freckles can appear. The good news is, once it heals, your pores will be cleaner (making it easier to avoid future breakouts).
2Rosy glow
During the facial, your beautician will work to increase blood circulation in your face (to combat dull and tired skin). The combination of steam and facial massage will get the blood flowing to refresh and nourish your skin , think ‘the glow of youth in the tap’ and vibrant looking streams. Your skin may be slightly warm to the touch and sure to glow for a few hours (and hopefully longer) after your salon adventure.
